John Muir Elementary School PTA

The John Muir PTA mission is to be a strong voice for the families, students, and community of John Muir Elementary School.

During the 2011-2012 academic year, we are working to accomplish this mission through focusing on the following goals:

Provide generous support for our teachers and their classrooms.

• Promote volunteering

• Provide direct assistance for classrooms

• Provide funding for writing enrichment programs and kindergarten tutoring through Powerful Schools

• Provide support for math education enrichment through funding the Explorations in Math program

• Support enrichment activities such as environmental education and Mandarin language instruction

Promote health and wellness.

• Support kids walking and biking to school

• Develop a food assistance program for families

• Execute the completion of the playground improvement project

Promote and diversify PTA participation.

Encourage a positive and supportive culture for student success.

1. Provide families and staff with support and resources related to discipline at home and in school

2. Provide forums for parent discussion and education through special interest topic meetings
